Fractured Resonance by Project Fractured

What was my role?

Within this system, I designed the game’s Sorrow Level, a biome built around emotional heaviness, introspection, and environmental pressure.

My vision was to create a space that feels emotionally weighted — not just visually, but mechanically. Sorrow in Fractured Resonance slows the player, dampens sound, and shifts the world’s color and atmosphere. My level design needed to reinforce that emotional state through layout, pacing, and environmental storytelling.

In this video it show the player can looked through the hole in the tree and the tree in front of it just vanish. Now the player can see the path before them.

This is the starting area for the sorrow level. Where the player come across the willow tress with the holes in them.

As a team we chose the willow trees because we felt like they represent sorrow well and gives the feel we was going for.

The lights was my idea to use on hidden paths to help the player and they being round balls is because I wanted them to look like bubbles or floating lanterns. 

In this video the player change their emotion to sorrow and use the Sorrow Mist to light up the lights up on the hidden path. The lights are to help the player guide their way for they won't fall off of the path and into the water.

The puzzle cubes was design by me. The art for it was from a game artist that my team was pair with in school. 

In this video the door opens up after the code on the puzzle cube is put in. To show a hidden area behind it for the player can go through.

In this video it's showing how the player is solving the puzzle by copying the other cubes beside it making them match.

About The Game

Fractured Resonance is a captivating first-person action game where emotions shape the battlefield. Players can switch between Anger, Joy, Sorrow, and Fear to unleash unique abilities, adapt to relentless enemies, and navigate a surreal, fractured world.
